The restoration of "Gnisten"
It is about three years ago that the organisation Vaerft Historisk selskab started, so we would like to say what is happening now and what will happen in the future.
From the beginning, we intended to publish a book about the shipyard from its beginnings in 1870 to the closing of it at the end of 1999.
We have now created a home page on the Internet so our members and sponsors can see what the money is being spent on.
Our only problem is that we cannot put texts and pictures on our home page quickly enough, as we lack experience in doing this.
At the moment, we have a project called "Gnisten", which is all about getting the ship to sail again. This seems to have succeeded with co-operation from a group of young people from a place called, "Activity House" and sponsors who donate wood for the ship.
The young people could learn a little about the different handcrafts and how to co-operate in general at an ordinary work place and maybe some of them would go on to take a maritime training course.
In connection with the renovation of "Gnisten", open day arrangements will be held, so everybody can come and see what is happening.
Vaerft Historisk selskab also intends to publish a member's magazine with the first publication in November 2004.
