Together with Bangsbo Museum, W. Klitgaard, FDF Frederikshavn Maritime Boy's Brigade and Frederikshavn Sports Diving Club, we have bought Frederikshavn slipway and shipyard.
We took possession of the buildings the 1st July 2005 and we have already held an open house arrangement, where lots of people came to see what it was we had started up.
We were able to purchase the buildings because the JL Fund gave us 500,000 kroner as an instalment and interest free loan. The bank, Spar Nord, contributed the rest of the amount needed, so we owe these two organisations our sincere gratitude for their efforts. Without them it would not be possible to start such a project as this.
We do not know what will happen in the future, but we now have some opportunities, which if exploited properly, can be of great pleasure for the History of the Shipyard Company and all our activities.
Our partners also have the same opinion and we are ready with plans for activities at the slipway.
The committee is at the moment negotiating the possible membership of a boathouse in Saeby, which owns an older wooden ship.
The chairman of the committee is Ib Bjoern Poulsen from Vaerft Historisk selskab. The new association we are members of is called the "Maritim Historisk Forening" and our membership fee to this association is 10,000 kroner per year. In return, we have some excellent facilities we can use.
